International, ACN: Mangane joins Pitroipa

A few hours after the qualification of the Burkina Faso of Jonathan Pitroipa for the next African Cup of Nations (read previously), the Rennais winger has been joined by one of his team-mates.

Kader Mangane’s Senegal has indeed clinched its qualification for the finals by beating Democratic Republic of Congo (2-0), in Dakar. Two goals scored by Moussa Sow allowed the « Lions of Teranga » to win, with one goal per half-time (34’ and 50’). The Rennais captain started the match in Senegalese defence.
As Pitroipa, Mangane should be unavailable for Stade Rennes in next January, and maybe until mid-February.

As a result, Cameroon of Georges Mandjeck – playing in the same group as Senegal – is almost eliminated. The « Untamable Lions » can now only hope to get one of the two best runners-up spots, but it would be now a lucky coincidence. In any case, they will have to win in the Democratic Republic of Congo in October in order to preserve a hope of qualification.
The midfielder, as well as Razak Boukari, will probably stay in Brittany next winter.
