International: Defeats for Boye, Mavinga and Pajot

International: Defeats for Boye, Mavinga and Pajot

Contrasting with the good results obtained by Rennes’ international players last week-end, the three players involved this Monday all lost their matches.

During a friendly match in Portugal, the U21 French team conceded a short defeat (0-1), after having conceded a goal by Wilson at the fifth minute. After a poor first half-time, the « Bleuets » reacted well in the second, but had to play almost half an hour with ten players against eleven, after the defender Eliaquiam Mangala was sent off (67’).
Withdrawn last Friday because of a small contraction at adductors, Chris Mavinga started the match this time and played the whole game. The young defender, for his first cap with the U21 national team, was very convincing as a left back-winger, but also as a centre-back after the expulsion of his team-mate.
Regarding Vincent Pajot, who started the previous match, he sat on the substitutes’ bench this time, but he entered in the game during the second half. The midfielder showed available and efficient, especially in terms of distributing the game.

In London, Ghana also lost its friendly match against Brazil (0-1). The Seleção took advantage of the premature expulsion of Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare (33’) to win the game, scoring the only goal by Leandro Damiao during the injury-time of the first half.
In the stands last Friday, Rennes’ defender John Boye didn’t have the occasion to enter the pitch at Craven Cottage either, and remained on the substitutes bench during the whole match.
