International, France : M'Vila injured

Watching the game on TV, Frédéric Antonetti has probably spent a bad evening. The Rennes manager, who had publicly requested that Laurent Blanc would rest Yann M’Vila, running out of steam with the Stade Rennais, has first learnt that his player would start the game once again, five days after playing an hour against the United States.
A clear sign, certainly, that the Rennes midfielder has become an essential player for Les Bleus, but also a clear handicap in view of the Rouge et Noir’s coming fixtures, especially since the game against Belgium was played without anything at stake.

After forty lacklustre minutes, the Rennes manager then saw Yann M’Vila come off… on a stretcher. Challenging Eden Hazard for a ball in the air, the midfielder fell badly and had to be carried off the pitch, suffering with a neck injury.
After the initial worry, the latest news were reassuring. Sent to the Hospital of la Pitié-Salpêtrière to undergo medical examinations, his condition didn’t worry Laurent Blanc too much, who affirmed to L’Équipe that his cervical vertebras are “touched, but not badly”. At the moment, M’Vila remains doubtful for the game in Lyon and he could finally get some rest in the next few days. Necessary rest this time.
