International, U21 ACN: Qasmi in the final

By winning against Egypt on Wednesday evening (3-2), the U21 Moroccan national team made two achievements: by winning its semi-finals, Morocco will play the final of the U21 African Cup of Nations against Gabon on Saturday. But it also get its ticket for the next Olympic Games in London.

The Rennais Yacine Qasmi didn’t start the match, maybe because of his injury caught during the group phase. In his absence, the « Lion cubs of Atlas » quickly took the advantage, in the big stadium of Marrakech, since Abdelaziz Barrada scored at the... 50th second of the game and scored a second goal at the 9th minute.
Far from discouraged, the Egyptians scored before half-time, with a goal by Mohamed Salah (35’), but Morocco scored a third by Youness Mokhtar (65’). Coming off the bench to replace Barrada for the last quarter, Qasmi took part in the defence of this score. The pressure applied by the Egyptians only allowed them to score one more goal in the last minutes of the match.

Victorious, the Moroccans are now qualified for the final of « their » U21 African Cup of Nations. Qasmi can therefore book his month of August 2012 in London.
