Loans : A purchase clause and the second keeper’s spot for Carrasso

Loans : A purchase clause and the second keeper's spot for Carrasso

Arrived last summer and having started only four games during the 2010-2011 season, Johann Carrasso might never wear the Rennes shirt again.

Making his loan move official this Thursday, AS Monaco also confirmed that they had a purchase clause to buy back the two years of contract tying Carrasso to Stade Rennais after next June. Arrived in the Principality this Tuesday, the former Montpellier man trained with his new team-mates this Thursday.
On June 7th, Pierre Dréossi had clearly announced the club’s intentions to loan Carrasso… in order to see him return in full playing ability a season later. “He needs a lot of playing time in order to return to his best, Dréossi explained. We will try to loan him out so he can play. We know his qualities, and we will be able to bring him back in a year”.

Finally, there might be no return, and even play time isn’t guaranteed. On Monaco’s website, manager Laurent Banide affirmed that Carrasso would start the season as the second goalkeeping choice. “Sébastien Chabbert is the first goalkeeper, Johann Carrasso will be the number 2, Banide explained. The firsty will have to keep his place, the second will have to try and earn it. […]Sébastien managed a good end to the season and he will start. But Johann has got a career as well, he played for the promotion to L1 with Montpellier and is very eager to play. We will look at it all carefully, and we will take the best decisions with the club’s interest in mind”.
