Mandjeck is over it

Mandjeck is over it

Talking to L’Équipe, Georges Mandjeck seems to have put an end to the episode of his “feud” with Frédéric Antonetti. According to the Cameroonese, there is simply “no problem” with his manager or his club.

«What happened happened. We are men. We had a chat and we forgot about all that. I understood”. Nearly a month after receiving the wrath of Frédéric Antonetti, Georges Mandjeck seems to have accepted the somewhat humiliating treatment received against Brest on December 10th. A few days after the incident, the Cameroon international explained he had lived his manager’s attitude “badly”, adding that he had “the impression it was always directed as the same players”.
These words seem no forgotten. Just as his ambiguous gesture after scoring in Madrid (a “shut up “ sign with the right hand which we probably won’t know whether it was addressed to his coach or to the attendance at the Vicente-Calderon stadium). Also forgotten is the “diplomatic injury” which kept him out of Rennes-Bordeaux. “I read it had been said I was left out of the squad. But I had felt a hamstring pain after the game in Madrid, Mandjeck affirms. In Ajaccio, I was on the bench and after, in training, I was still hurting. I was injured, not left out!

Since everything seems to go for the best, the perspective of a departure in January is also forgotten, and Mandjeck affirms he never “mentioned the possibility of leaving”, and this despite the competition at midfield or in defence. “The goal isn’t to leave and avoid competition, the Cameroon player explain. I could still get my share of games with Rennes, so I have no reason to go anywhere else. It would be too easy”.
