Mavinga back in France this Monday

Mavinga back in France this Monday

Yesterday (Sunday) Chris Mavinga, remained in Colombia until then despite his foot injury, bid farewell to his team-mates before returning to France. The Rennes defender took an evening plane and was therefore expected to land in Paris this Monday morning.

Although he would have preferred to get involved in the U20 World Cup with his team-mates, the new Rennais didn’t want to worsen what Ouest-France described this Sunday as a pain to the fourth metatarsus which could have led, according to the examination, to a stress fracture.
«As a measure of precaution for the rest of my season with my new club, I have to come home and avoid taking the risk to make the injury worse, Mavinga explained on the website of the French Football Federation. I’m sad to leave my mates in this way, after a difficult first game (Ed.: France lost their first game against Colombia, 1-4), but this is part of the life of a sportsman to go through big disappointments”.

Questioned by Ouest-France regarding the injury of his new player, Frédéric Antonetti explained that Mavinga should, whatever happens, “be absent for about a month”, and would therefore not be ready to play before the beginning of September.
