Rennes - Belgrade: Prosinečki remains optimistic

Despite the home defeat during the first leg, Robert Prosinečki, the Red Star Belgrade manager, remains optimistic about the chances of his team to qualify for the group phase of the Europa League.

«We still have a chance, I’m naturally optimistic. I believe we can manage something in Rennes, and so do my players. They showed they can compete”, he affirmed, in reference to the first thirty minutes in which Rennes was strongly dominated. “After their victory in Belgrade, they are favourites, but we certainly hope to give them a hard time”.

Speaking for the players, Nikola Mikić also showed that the Serbian squad is travelling to Brittany with hopes to qualify, and that they will only fall after a good fight. “We travel to Rennes to manage a good result and qualify, the defender explained. It won’t be easy, Rennes is a very good team, they punished us when we made mistakes. Now we know them better, we know their strengths and weaknesses, and we hope to be able to exploit them this Thursday”.
