Transfers : Erding back under the radar

Transfers : Erding back under the radar

Rennes have never denied an interest for Mevlüt Erding. The Breton club had first tried to bring the Turkish striker in summer 2009, before he finally opted for Paris SG. Rennes tried again in October 2010, following a lacklustre start of the season for the former Sochaux man and a lack of striker in Rennes, but Paris were not wishing to part with their forward. “All conditions weren’t gathered”, Frédéric Antonetti then commented.

Erding name was mentioned again on the Vilaine banks this summer however. On June 12th (Read our Transfer Latest column), L’Équipe affirmed a renewed interest from the Stade Rennais for the Parisian striker. Three days later, Ouest-France replied that the transfer would not happen for financial reasons, but at the end of June, Le Parisien was once again mentioning contacts made by the Breton club regarding Erding.

Today, according to our information, Mevlüt Erding’s agent has contacted the Stade Rennais, considering that his player’s situation is blocked at the Paris SG. Negotiations have started between the two parties. On Friday evening, TV channel CFoot announced that Rennes should be making an offer to PSG next week. However, Newcastle is also still following the player.
