Transfers, official: Lemoine in Saint-Étienne for four years

The summer story which animated Stade Rennes since last Sunday ended this Wednesday. Mightily close to be loaned to Évian Thonon Gaillard, Fabien Lemoine has finally decided to sign a four year contract with AS Saint-Étienne. The transfer fee, with Lemoine having two years left on his contract, hasn’t been announced.

Questioned on the official website of his new club, the midfielder has explained that his decision to join « Les Verts » had been « easy to take », since he felt a real desire by the Saint-Etienne coaching staff to bring him to the club. “It was my eleventh year at the Stade Rennais, he added. I feel a little twinge of sadness as I prepare to leave my second family. But when you reach a certain age, it’s also good to leave the cocoon. Today, I’m in Saint Etienne and I want to make my mark in an ambitious club. And I’m delighted”.

In a press release published by the club, Pierre Dréossi affirmed that the man from Fougeres “wanted to leave” his training club. “We told him to wait, since he would have had opportunities to play at the Stade Rennais this season, but he was determined”, the general manager affirm, who didn’t want to «put a spoke in his player’s wheels”.
As for Fabien Lemoine, he should soon return to the Stade de la Route de Lorient, with AS Saint-Étienne scheduled to visit Rennes on September 24th, in Ligue 1’s eighth game week.
