Rennes’ reaction
The Stade Rennais reacted in the best of ways after their elimination in the Coupe de la Ligue, Wednesday evening in Guingamp, by winning in Nice. Caught up after quickly opening the score by Dalmat (7’), Antonetti’s men managed to make the difference at the end of the game, thanks to a goal by Montaño (77’).
As in Guingamp on Wednesday, Rennes were quick to score the first goal. After only 7 minutes, Leroy found Marveaux, who opened the way to the goal with a superb control to shoot. His shoot was punched by Ospina, but Dalmat followed to blast the ball under the cross bar. OGC Nice 0 - 1 Stade Rennais
Rennes was in the lead but started to go backwards as the Aiglons came back into the game. After 26 minutes, Ljuboja received a back pass from Mounier in the penalty area. The Nice striker placed a superb curled shoot into Nicolas Douchez’ goal corner, allowing OGC Nice to equalise. The first goal conceded by Rennes on the road this season. OGC Nice 1 - 1 Stade Rennais
Antonetti’s men would then wait the last fifteen minutes to take the edge, profiting of a mistake by the Nice defence. At the reception of a long ball by M’Vila, Nice defender Mabiala missed his header. The ball arrived directly on Montaño, who took his chance perfectly against Ospina and scored the victorious goal. With 15 points to their tally, Rennes are currently second in the Ligue 1 standings.
