Doumbia close to beating his own record

- On the defensive :
Already starting on this position last week against Monaco (1-0), Romain Danzé returned as a right midfielder. A defensive choice in order to counter runs by Bordeaux’ left back Benoît Trémoulinas. Because of this choice, Abdoul Camara started the game from the bench before coming in to replace Jirès Kembo. A very shy Rennes?

- Julienne in the Stands :
Called by Frédéric Antonetti, the young Stade Rennes striker watched the match from the stands. Indeed, an uncertainty remained on Kader Mangane’s presence in this game. The Senegalese international was fit to play however, and Frank Julienne was left outside of the game sheet.

- Inoffensive Rennes :
It took 65 minutes, last night, to see the “Rouge et Noir” shoot on goal for the first time. A first shot by Romain Danzé after a corner. Difficult, in these conditions, to wish for more than a draw.

- Doumbia, the sniper :
Cautioned after a nasty challenge on Jaroslav Plašil, Tongo Doumbia was close to being sent off at the… first minute. Fortunately, the Czech international did not do too much, else the former Chateauroux man would probably have gone for an early bath. In Lens (0-0) this season, Doumbia had been sent off only… three minutes after he came into play. Passion has to be kept under some control.

- Are we in Rennes yet?
Is Rennes still able to score on the road? The question deserves to be asked since Frédéric Antonetti’s squad hasn’t found the net away since the trip to Auxerre (1-2) on November 14th, or 290 minutes. Also, in seventeen games, Stade Rennes only managed to score seventeen goals. Even worse, Rennes failed to score for the seventh time this season. Not good enough for a team targeting a position in the first third of the Ligue 1 standings.

- How boring...
According to an information from Eurosport’s website after the game in Bordeaux, the Stade Rennais matches are the less prolific in the ligue 1 Championship. Indeed, only 28 goals have been scored in games involving the “Rouge et Noir” this season. This is the smallest total in all tweny Ligue 1 teams.

- Canal+ won’t forget...
7.8/20. This isn’t the added rating of all Stade Rennes players yesterday in Bordeaux, but the average note given by the Canal+ viewers watching the game between Bordeaux and Rennes. The worst average rating for a game shown on the TV Channel since it was created. Does this count as a line in the club’s honours list?

Lots of clumsiness, bad decisions, not enough movement… It’s also true that we are in winter and the games played in winter are never very good, the Corsican manager tried to justify. And you know, I’ve seen Laurent’s Blanc mighty Bordeaux play the same way sometimes. Sometimes, games are simply bad in their content. We have to accept it, we have to remember that the players are tired. I’m certainly not satisfied with our attacking organisation, but I liked our defensive commitment” (rmc.fr).

Jean Tigana : "We lose ground on the teams that won on Sunday. We were in no danger defensively, but we lacked efficiency up front. We should have put a higher tempo in this game. It was difficult as the play was very scattered, with lot of contact, lot of injuries”. He explained on the Girondins’ website. “It was a rather strange game. I have a few statisfactions on this match, Salif Sané was very good, so was Jaroslav Plašil. We were in no danger defensively, but it was difficult to carry the ball forward. We lack efficiency.
