Seven players on international duty

A total of seven players will miss at La Piverdière this week, to which could be added Vincent Pajot, on loan to Boulogne-sur-Mer, and Cheikh N’Diaye, loaned to Paris FC. A total which could have been even bigger if Kader Mangane, Georges Mandjeck and Yacine Brahimi had not been forced to renounce because of injuries.
For this first international game of 2011, only friendly games will be played.

First Rennais to play, Razak Boukari (Togo) and John Boye (Ghana) will face each other as soon as this Tuesday. A friendly game in order to prepare the next qualification games for the 2012 African Cup of Nations, and which will be played in Antwerp, Belgium. Both players should return to Frédéric Antonetti’s disposal soon, in view of next Sunday’s game.

On the same day, at the stade Gaston-Petit, Châteauroux, France U21 will be hosts to Slovakia. The “Bleuets” are continuing in their long series of preparation games before the qualifications for Euro 2013 begin. Érick Mombaerts’ players have got until 2nd September to get ready, and the game against Slovakia will be a new step in building a squad that will play together at least until the end of 2012.
With Yacine Brahimi, injured and out, Abdoul Camara and Vincent Pajot will be representing Rennes’ Academy. This is the second call for Pajot, performing high since the beginning of the season with Boulogne-sur-Mer. As for Camara, he will receive the first cap he was wishing for, as he turned down the Guinean selection in the hope to play his football for France.

Wednesday afternoon, another French selection will be playing a friendly, the France U19 team managed by Philippe Bergeroo will face the Netherlands in Talence (Gironde).
The game will be a preparation to the U19 Euro’s qualifications which will start in May. Alternatively called with the U20 and U19, Abdoulaye Diallo will play with the younger category this time, and will be in competition with Caen’s Riffi Mandanda (Steve’s little brother), called after the forfeit of Le Havre’s Zacharie Boucher.

A few hours later, across the Mediterranean, Yassine Jebbour should play his first game with Morocco U21. For them, playing against Burkina Faso, it will be the preparation to the qualification for London’s 2012 Olympics.

Finally, most of the game between the main national teams will be played in the evening. Including the game between Alexander Tettey’s Norway and Poland.
At the heart of winter, the game won’t be played in Scandinavia but under the Portuguese sun. The Norwegians will try and confirm their current good form, as they lead their qualification group for Euro 2012 with three wins in as many games. Tettey, back in the national squad after an absence of a year, will try and prove his national coach he can become a key member of the team.

As for Yann M’Vila, he will play a prestigious friendly against Brazil at the Stade de France. A tricky test for the French team, which needs to confirm their revival of last autumn. Very good since he made his international debut, the Rennais is very likely to be offered another start at midfield.
