Yacine Brahimi absent again

Ligue 1, Stade Rennais - Caen, Sunday, 17:00 CET For the fourth game week of Ligue 1, Frédéric Antonetti has chosen to recall the same squad that faced Red Star Belgrade last Thursday. The rennes coach has selected eigthteen players for the home game against Stade Malherbe de Caen. Yacine Brahimi, in recovery, is once unable to join the squad.

Yacine Brahimi absent again

Victorious against Red Star Belgrade (4-0), 3 days ago in the Europa League, Stade Rennais now need to re-launch themselves in Ligue 1 after the severe defeat in Montpellier (4-0) during the previous game week. For that purpose, Frédéric Antonetti decided to call the same squad of eighteen players as against the Serbian team, for the game to be played this Sunday at the Stade de la Route de Lorient against Stade Malherbe de Caen. Although his return was hoped, Yacine Brahimi is still not fit to play, and he will miss his sixth consecutive game with the Breton club.
Also, the Corsican manager will probably rotate his squad again, and some players such as Stéphane Dalmat or Kader Mangane should logically return to a starting position in the squad.

For Caen, Franck Dumas and his players have arrived in Brittany yesterday in the late afternoon. The Malherbe manager won’t be able to rely on his experienced striker Pierre-Alain Frau, who had to pull-out after suffering a thigh muscle injury last week when warming up for the game against Lille.
Also, young defender Molla Wague has been left with the Reserve squad and won’t travel to Rennes. These two players are replaced numerically by Ibrahima Tandia and the French-Moroccan midfielder, Fayçal Fajr, who celebrates his first appearance on a professional match-sheet.
At this time, Caen have got six points to their counter, two more than Stade Rennais FC. Franck Dumas’ men have indeed beaten Valenciennes at home (1-0) before winning at the Stade Bonal against Sochaux (1-2) during the first two Ligue 1 game weeks, but then lost last week against the defending French champions, Lille (1-2), on their ground, the Stade Michel-d’Ornano.
