International: Qasmi and Sané qualify for the semi-finals
Publié le 5 December 2011 à 10h06 Stade Rennais OnlineTeam mates with the Reserves in Rennes since the beginning of the season, Yacine Qasmi and Abdoulaye Sané were opposed, on Friday evening, in the third and final group game of the U21 African Cup.
Forced to win this match in order to qualify for the semi-finals, while Morocco only needed one point, the Senegal thwarted all the predictions by winning the game, thanks to a goal scored by Abdoulaye Ba (1-0, 32’). Rennes forward Abdoulaye Sané started the match and played a little more than seventy minutes, after having missed a big opportunity at the beginning of the second half. Yacine Qasmi, on the other hand, was absent because of a knock received against Algeria.
A defeat with no consequence for the Moroccans, since, in the same time, Nigeria beat Algeria (4-1).
In the semi-finals, Senegal will face Egypt, Tuesday evening in Tangier. Wednesday, in Marrakech, Morocco will try to qualify for the final against Ivory Coast. This final will be played next Saturday. Let’s remind that the three best teams of the competition will obtain a ticket for the Olympic Games in London, next summer.
