This Thursday afternoon, Laurent Blanc published his squad for France’s next two games, against Romania on Saturday, October 9th, and against Luxemburg on Tuesday, October 12th. Yann M’Vila is the only player convoked by Les Bleus’ head coach.

Excellent since his beginnings, in August, with the French national team, Yann M’Vila has been rewarded for his quality performances wearing the blue shirt. The Stade Rennais midfielder continues to hold strong position in Laurent Blanc’s tactics.

No other Rennes player was selected. Currently injured, Rod Fanni was logically out of the race, while Nicolas Douchez was left behind the three “World Cup goalkeepers” Lloris, Mandanda and Carrasso. Sylvain Marveaux had received a pre-convocation but wasn’t called-up either.

Included in a list of 23 players, M’Vila will compete for a starting position at midfield, against Romania on October 9th at the Stade de France, then the following Tuesday at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz, against Luxemburg.

Among the other players selected, former Rennes player Yoann Gourcuff returns after a two matches ban with France, but Jimmy Briand was left out of the squad.
