Ouest-France revealed that the Stade Rennais goalkeeper, Nicolas Douchez will undergo surgery on 21st December.

Since several weeks, the goalkeeper has been holding his position despite a pain that forces him to be rested regularly. “I’ve got an issue with the inguinal canal, that forces me not to train to hard at the beginning of weeks to avoid an hernia”, Douchez explained.

To resolve the problem without handicapping his team too much, Douchez will be recovering of the surgery during the winter break. The operation will be done abroad, in order to benefit of a technic that allows a reduced healing time.

Expected to be two or three weeks, Douchez’ period of unavailability should allow him to come back for the 20th Ligue 1 game week, the first in 2011, against Arles-Avignon. In the meantime, the goalkeeper will be missing two games: The 19th game week at Caen, on December 22nd, and the Coupe de France’s round of 32, which traditionally opens the civil year. Logically, Johann Carrasso should be replacing Douchez in both occasions.
