International, France: Marveaux pre-convoked, Féret as well

Next Thursday, 14:00, Laurent Blanc will publish the list of players selected for France’s two encounters against Romania (9 October) and Luxemburg (12 October).

As always, the national coach is forced to send pre-convocations to a large number of players likely to be considered in his final selection.

Invited in L’Équipe TV this Monday, Sylvain Marveaux confirmed he has received a pre-convocation for Les Bleus’ two games to come. In an interview published to the website of France Football, the midfielder admitted he was “thinking” about the selection, and that being selected in the French national team is “an objective” for him”. “Everyone dreams about it”, he added.

Besides, newspaper l’Est Républicain announces that Nancy’s Julien Féret also received a pre-convocation. Born in Saint-Brieuc, Féret had a rather unusual career so far.

Trained at the Stade Rennais, he is from the same generation as Sébastien Puygrenier, but he did not manage to go through the Academy ranks and obtain a professional contract. He went on with his career in Cherbourg (National) to break through in Reims, Ligue 2. With the Champagne club, his biggest success was the elimination of Rennes, his training club, in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue.

In 2008, Nancy felt the good occasion and recruited him. A good choice for the Lorraine club, in which Féret set himself up as one of Ligue 1’s best midfielders.
