A former Lens player, Kader Mangane will be coming back to Bollaert, where his Ligue 1 career started, in the 2007-2008 season that saw the Artesian club relegated.
Talking to La Voix du Nord, the Stade Rennais captain expressed mixed feelings before coming back to his former stadium. “I could not say I have got only nice memories there, Mangane admits. When you are relegated with your team, it is always a bad memory on a sports point of view. But Lens also has a fantastic fan-base. These supporters truly deserve a great team”.
« Flattered » to have been named Rennes’ captain by Frédéric Antonetti, the centre defender affirms that his new responsibilities allowed him to “invest himself even more with the group”. But Mangane also showed recognition towards his former club. “Lens has been a very important club for me, it allowed me to show my potential, the Senegal international explains. I was proud to wear the Lens shirt. Now, I’m proud to wear the Rennes kit”.
