Kana-Biyik praises Antonetti’s honesty

In an interview to L’Équipe published last Saturday, Stade Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik discussed his excellent 2010-2011 season and his relationship with Frédéric Antonetti.

At his arrival in Rennes, Kana-Biyik admits he receive a stern telling off from his manager. “He put me back to my place, the defender remembers. It was my entire fault. Instead of having a wisdom tooth removed during holidays, I did it during the pre-season. To him, it wasn’t normal. To him, I was missing since the beginning of the pre-season. He asked me what I was doing there”.

And the French-Cameroonese went on by praising the honesty of the Rennes manager. “He called me to his office after already +catching+ me on the pitch in front of everyone, Kana-Biyik explained. What I like is that he says the same thing in front of everyone or head to head. The coach was always correct to me. And when it’s good, he also says it in front of everyone, not only in the office. And in fact, if Rennes does so well in the league today, it’s because the coach is being correct with everyone”.
