Former Staff : Chauvin officially in Nantes

As expected since several months, Landry Chauvin has become FC Nantes’ new manager. Reaching the end of his contract in Sedan, the former Stade Rennais coach (1992-2007) has signed a two years contract with the club from Loire-Atlantique, Waldemar Kita confirmed to Ouest-France.

In three years in the Ardennes, Chauvin managed to bring Sedan back on the front stage in Ligue 2. His mission will be to do the same in Nantes to bring the “Canaris” back in the top flight, despite the perspective of an increased competition next seasons with the continued presence of Le Mans and the relegations of Lens and Monaco from Ligue 1.

Supported by sports director Guy Hillion, Chauvin will be helped by two more former Rennais. His assistant-manager will be Bruno Baronchelli, the former FC Nantes hero who had also been Vahid Halilhodžić’s assistant at Stade Rennes. His fitness coach should be Stéphane Wiertelak, who worked at the Rennes Academy before taking on the professional squad when Guy David and Paul Le Guen were managing the club.

In Sedan, who recruited former Nantes-man to replace Chauvin, a former Rennais replaces another. Indeed, according to L’Équipe, Samuel Michel is becoming Guyot’s assistant coach. Since his retirement as a player in 2006, he has been exercising at various positions in Niort. Since 2009, he was managing the club’s U17 team.
