Injuries: Mavinga, not before September?

Injured with France U20 a few days before the age category’s World Cup, Chris Mavinga has finally been replaced for the competition. National coach Francis Smerecki instead used his right to call Lyon’s Thomas Fontaine, while Mavinga should return to France soon.

A forfeit which Smerecki considers a « real blow for the whole squad », and this « both on a human and sportive aspect ».
Naturally disappointed, Mavinga will have to receive treatment before starting his season with the Rennes shirt. According to Ouest-France, the left-back is suffering of a stress fracture and could miss the next six weeks. This should postpone his possible debut with the “Rouge et Noir” until mid-September.
