Taking profit of AS Vitré’s draw in Vannes (1-1), the Stade Rennais Reserve is climbing at the second place in its group, following a victory in Flers, one of the candidates for top three positions.
The game had started in the worst of ways when Gündüz scored twice for the Normans in the first hour, but just as in Saint-Malo, Rennes managed to solve the situation. Quentin Rouger reduced the gap just before half-time, before Yacine Qasmi equalised with his third goal of the season, all on the road.
Finally, the man in form of this early season, Abdoulaye Sané (photo), gave a decisive lead to the Stade Rennais with ten minutes left to play, scoring his sixth goal of the season, including five over the last four games.
Since next week-end is reserved to the Coupe de France, Laurent Huard’s youngsters will only return to competitive football in two weeks, facing Sablé-sur-Sarthe at la Piverdière on 27th November.
