International: Tettey and Pitroipa called-up

International: Tettey and Pitroipa called-up

The next international break is approaching, and the players called-up will leave Brittany as soon as next Monday to join their respective national teams.

A regular starter lately with Norway, Alexander Tettey has logically been called-up for his country’s last game of qualifications. A game the Norwegians must win in order to hope for qualification to the Euro, and which will be played in Norway against Cyprus, on Tuesday, October 11th.
The previous week-end, the Scandinavians will have nothing to do but hope that their direct rivals Portugal (against Island) and Denmark (in Cyprus) don’t win in order to boost their chances to qualify. If it doesn’t happen, it would take a little miracle for Norway to play the Euro 2012.

Jonathan Pitroipa and Burkina, meanwhile, are already qualified for the African Nations’Cup. They have one game left to play, in Gambia. Called in a list of twenty-five players, the Rennes winger could profit of the situation to ask for his national coach to let him rest by leaving him on the bench, just as he had done during the last (friendly) game of Burkina early September.

Finally, Youssouf Hadji should be playing with Morocco against Tanzania, in a crucial game for his country’s qualification. The Rennes striker has been shortlisted for this game, and should logically be part of the final list to be published by Eric Gerets in the next few days.
While Kader Mangane and John Boye are injured and won’t be joining Senegal and Ghana, the answer of Jirès Kembo to his first pre-selection with the Democratic Republic of Congo is still unknown. Claude Le Roy, the national coach, admitted that this first list (read previously) was simply a declaration of interest, and that he had no idea on how the dual-national players called-up would respond.
