Leroy will continue with Rennes or retire

At the end of his contract next June, Jérôme Leroy, 36 since Thursday, is still not sure what his future is made of.

In an interview to France-Soir, the midfielder admitted he “wasn’t thinking of going anywhere else”, having found “people who understood things had to be clearly said to [him]” in Rennes

«I would not have minded leaving Rennes after two seasons, Leroy explains, but the club proposed me new challenges”.

At the moment, Leroy – who hadn’t spent that many seasons at one club since he left PSG – is somehow a mentor for young players who, “will be playing in big clubs within one or two years”, from his own words.

Benefiting of Frédéric Antonetti’s trust, the midfielder guarantees that, as far as he is concerned, “there is no reason to stop when you’re still included in the tactics”. However, if his contract wasn’t extended, Leroy would probably put his career to an end. “Either I continue with Rennes or I retire, he explains, I can’t see myself taking up another new challenge for a year, it would not be interesting”.
