Antonetti : «Two forwards in January»

Questioned during Rennes’ pre-game press conference this Friday, Frédéric Antonetti confirmed that Rennes would “most likely” wait for the winter transfer window to reinfore their attacking line.

The obligation to recruit a player with a licence in France made matters “too difficult” according to Rennes’ manager, whether it comes to convincing clubs to sell their players or afford their salary.
In January however, the Stade Rennais will be looking for the rare bird. Or maybe for two of them. “According to the latest meetings, we should be recruiting two forwards”, Antonetti announced in an interview publish on L’Équipe’s website.

Priority should be given to a striker, with the recruitment of a played able to efficiently replace Montaño. Antonetti seems to know exactly the profile of player he is looking for, “a young player, born in 1989 or 1990, who has the potential to blossom if given time on the pitch. We have the first choice player. We need the guy able to play ten, twelve games, who has got talent to display”, the Rennes manager notes.

The second attacking player would probably have more of a winger profile, and his recruitment would allow the club to “prepare the future”. In order to cover for Sylvain Marveaux’ departure towards pastures new next summer?
