International, U18: Foulquier with Doucouré

France U18 will play a friendly tournament in Israel from December 12th to 17th. Alongside the host country, they will be facing Germany and the United States.

National coach Pierre Mankowski selected eighteen players for this tournament. Among them, Abdoulaye Doucouré, already a regular in the national selections since the U16 is logically present.

This time, Doucouré will travel with his teammate Dimitri Foulquier. Trained as a winger, now a right back, Foulquier joined Rennes in 2007, aged 14, from Guadeloupe. In February 2009, he had been invited for a training camp in Clairefontaine to assess his ability to join the national squad, but wasn’t retained at the time.

Elected the best player in the Academy last season – to reward him for his sportive improvement and its results at school – Foulquier should soon be adding his name to the list of Rennes’ 1993 born international players. They are five at the moment: Doucouré, but also Eliott Sorin, Wesley Yamnaine and Axel N’Gando with “les Bleus”, and goalkeeper Niall Burdon with Ireland.
