Transfers, Fanni: “I've been more than reasonable”

Gone to Marseille during the day after a final training session at la Piverdière on Wednesday morning, Rod Fanni had a satisfying medical check and was expected to sign his contract with Olympique Marseille this Thursday morning.

Talking to RMC and L’Équipe, the future Marseille full back came out of the silence he had kept since several weeks. “Sometimes it’s a pain to remain silent”, Fanni commented about various rumours surrounding his wage demands. “To see what everyone was saying, what has been told, which wasn’t really true, people talking about my greediness… I’ve never asked to be paid more than anyone, Fanni explained to RMC. In comparison to salaries offered in Marseille, I was more than reasonable”.

The 5 times international will receive « over 100,000euros monthly » in his new club, returns to his region of birth and the club of his childhood. “When OM expressed an interest, it really made me think, the former Rennes player to be explains, who also confirmed contacts with Liverpool. Everyone knows, I’m a kid from the area. Marseille is a special club to me”.

Now in the « club of his heart », the right back arrives at OM with the aim to « shoot for the title and manage a good run in the Champions League”, and knows he will be watched “with more attention” in his bid to return to the French National team. “In all areas this transfer is a great thing for me” he affirms. Introduced to the Press on Thursday, Fanni could play his first game with Marseille as soon as this Sunday evening, against Lyon.
