Gambardella Cup: Rennes will travel to Plabennec

The draw for the Round of 128 in 2011’s Gambardella Cup has been completed this Thursday morning. For their first game in the competition, the young Rennais will be travelling to Plabennec, in the Nord-Finistère (Brittany).

A draw that should not cause too much trouble to the team coached by Laurent Huard and Régis Le Bris. In the same group as Le Havre, Guingamp, Le Mans or Laval, Rennes was spared the eventuality of playing a major team for their entry in the competition. During the previous round, Plabennec, currently playing in the U19 DH (The second tier in this age category), had easily beaten Ouistreham (3-0).

This year, players from the 1992, 1993 and 1994 generations will be eligible to take part in this competition. Rennes’ team leader is most likely to be goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo, already involved in the Gambardella Cup over the last two years. The game will be played in Plabennec, on January 15th or 16th, 2011.
