From Vaulx-en-Velin : «The game of a lifetime»

From Vaulx-en-Velin : «The game of a lifetime»

On Sunday afternoon, the Vaulx-en-Velin players will take on Stade Rennais with full determination, well decided to show that their club, the smallest remaining in the competition, can do to jostle a Ligue 1 team.

After the elimination of Jura Sud, two divisions above them, The Vaulx players will have to manage a second exploit in a week. “There will be no time for the excitation to calm down, it will certainly help us and carry use, Mustapha Hassaïne, the Vaulx-en-Velin coach reckons on an interview to the FFF’s website. This game against Rennes, it’s the match of a lifetime for amateur players!

The players from Lyon’s suburb won’t follow a specific preparation however. “No chance we would change our habits, Hassaïne continues. We remained faithful to our three training sessions a week. […] The squad needs to keep its cool, not to get carried away and arrived on the most optimal condition on D-Day. On the other side, we will be facing one of the in-form teams in Ligue 1 at the moment, with an impressive physical impact and top-range players. We have to show a nice figure”.

On Sunday, the Vaudais will want, above everything, to show their quality, and give it everything to avoid any regret. “Our aim is to play our game, to give the supporters a good time and be efficient, the coach explains. We like to hold the ball, and this involves a big technical control. Obviously, it will be difficult to hold onto the ball against Rennes, but I don’t want to see my players defend their goal-line desperately for 90 minutes. This is a chance for them to show their potential. The level difference between the two teams is huge. Even though the game is promising to be the hardest in our life, we want to honour amateur football. If we have to come out of this competition, let’s do it with our heads high».
