Antonetti : «I overreacted a bit»

Under the influence of anger, Frédéric Antonetti had been affirming that some players had had their “testimonial game” against Reims, pointing at their bad performances and at the unlikeliness to see them wear the Rennes shirt in a foreseeable future.

Yesterday, during the press conference, the Rennes manager admitted some mistakes according to Ouest France. “When I said some had played their last game against Reims, I overreacted a bit, Antonetti admitted. This is not what I wanted to say. What I think is that some players have got progress to make. With work, application, they can do it. But some are requesting to play more and should not, as they are not good enough at the moment”.

Words that sound very similar to those he pronounced after the loss in the Coupe de la Ligue against Guingamp. Criticizing the poor performance of a much revamped team, Antonetti explained that “youngsters ask for a lot but don’t give as much” and that there would be a “before and an after” that game (read previously). Today, the Rennes manager hopes that the disillusion against Reims will be another lesson remembered by his team. “We came out stronger after Guingamp, he affirmed, I hope we will be stronger after Reims”. First elements of answer, this Saturday against Paris.
