Leroy: “A bunch of moralisers”

Leroy: “A bunch of moralisers”

After his contract wasn’t renewed by Stade Rennes, Jérôme Leroy was angry at the events of the last few days. Questioned on radio RMC, the midfielder hit out at his management, who he accused not to have been honest with him.

«On Wednesday I saw the coach, he was thinking about it, waiting to know, Leroy reports. I told him: +Since you seem to have difficulties in deciding, I tell you know, I won’t stay+”. Waiting to hear about his future since several months, Leroy finally learnt the decision of the Rennes management in the press, this Monday, seemingly without having discussed the situation with them.
Ironically, Leroy put forward the hypothesis that he might have “shamed the shirt” for Patrick Le Lay, Pierre Dréossi and Frédéric Antonetti to treat him that way. “For them to behave in this way, it probably means I’ve been unworthy of [the shirt]. This is my explanation, regrets the player, clearly upset.

«I’m not going to lose any more time talking about people who couldn’t tell me directly (i.e. : the fact his contract wasn’t renewed), Leroy adds. What bemuses me most is that those people affirm their hate for hypocrites. At the end of the day, I only see a bunch of moralisers who are unable to say things honestly. What else can I say about it?

Next season, Leroy will therefore play for a new club, probably his last. Maybe Évian Thonon Gaillard, who « came to enquire » about him and have an “interesting project” in his own words. The now former Rennais doesn’t really know what his future is made of at this moment. “All offers are worth listening to”, he affirms.
