Antonetti: “We were simply rubbish”

After the defeat of his team in Ajaccio, and particularly in view of the display of his players in this game, Frédéric Antonetti didn’t look for excuses in the press conference. Only one explanation to this defeat: “we were simply rubbish”, the Rennes manager affirmed.

Struggling since a few weeks, the Rouge et Noir played a dreadful match at the Stade François-Coty. «All we could hope for was a point, but we were too bad, Antonetti recognised. We were not self-centred, we were simply poor».
While Stade Rennes had taken most of its points against strugglers last year, failing to resist against the big teams, the logic has been inverted this season. “Over the last month, we are weak against the small teams, it is the opposite of last season, the Rennes manager noted. Tonight, there was nothing there, nothing in term of play, in terms of attacking inspiration, in terms of personal investment. A game to forget”.

We can only hope that the Rouge et Noir will keep it in mind, next Wednesday against Bordeaux, in order to avoid yet another disappointing performance…
