Celtic - Rennes : Lennon criticises his players

Celtic - Rennes : Lennon criticises his players

Distanced by the Rangers and even by Motherwell in the league, Celtic is far from being in a serene atmosphere before welcoming Stade Rennes, this Thursday in Glasgow

After the disappointing draw conceded this week-end at Celtic Park against Hibernian (0-0), the Scottish club’s manager has publicly criticised his players. “I have shown a lot of faith in these players and they keep letting me and my backroom staff down., the Northen-Irish manager regretted, I don’t know if it really hurts them enough or if they treat it with indifference. I ask them questions after the game and I get no reply. I think there are too many who want to ride along on the back of people and they are not earning their money at the minute, basically. I don’t see anybody digging out anybody on the pitch. On Saturday it was as if they wanted the game to pass by and just wait for something to happen. There was a lack of urgency. There was a flatness».

Only the midfielders James Forrest, Ki Sung-Yeung and Joe Ledley are spared by Lennon’s attacks. «There are three players I would consider are exempt from criticism. But there are others who are really lagging, the Celtic manager points. I would like to change it but I can’t. And until they start showing consistency, an urgency, a drive and a will to win, it is going to be difficult for me to get results”.
