International, U20: Mavinga will return to Rennes

The U20 World Cup wasn’t to be for Chris Mavinga. Hurt to the left ankle during a training session with “Les Bleuets”, the new Rennes left back should not take part in the competition.

According to L’Équipe, the France U20 coaching staff has been authorised to replace the young player by the FIFA, according to the competition’s rules.
Mavinga should therefore return to Brittany to recover from his injury, before joining the professional squad. To this date, the gravity of the injury and the duration of unavailability of the youngster haven’t been announced.
