Leroy: « A maximum of pleasure »

Leroy: « A maximum of pleasure »

Interviewed by newspaper Le Parisien before the game between Lille and Évian last Saturday, Jérôme Leroy confirmed that he is living his last months as a professional football player, since he will end his playing career at the end of the season.

Today, the midfielder is fully enjoying every game he plays. « Whatever the match, I take a maximum of pleasure », he explains, admitting however that he has « not thought about his future yet », and in particular to his activities after football.
In the meantime, at 37, he hopes for a successful exit at Évian. « I hope that I will leave the club in Ligue 1 at the end of the season. If so, I will be able to leave with my head high, the former Rennais explains. If the ETG remained in L1, it would be great. With one of the lowest budgets, for me, it would be just like a title ».

Since his departure from Rennes, Leroy admites he enjoys basic habits in Savoy, which he was not used to anymore. « This club resembles what I was used to when I started. There is still an amateur part. I’m back to square one and I enjoy it, he asserts. In other structured clubs, we do nothing. Here, before matches away, we prepare our bag ourselves and we bring it. Things like that correspond to a normal footballer life, but we easily forget them ».
In more than one month, Jérôme Leroy will be back in Stade de la Route de Lorient, where he hadn’t the occasion to bid farewell to the Rennes fans in May. The match against Évian-Thonon-Gaillard in Rennes is scheduled on Saturday 26th November.
