Leroy : “My last season”

As expected, Jérôme Leroy has signed a one year contract with newly promoted Évian Thonon Gaillard. Presented to the media this Tuesday, the former Rennes player seems to have turned the page of his departure from Rennes.

«This is probably a blessing in disguise, Leroy explained to L’Équipe’s website. Maybe I had installed myself in some sort of routine. I was there since four years, and this will allow me to test myself again”.
Refusing to consider himself a key player in the team from Savoie, the former Paris man also affirmed that this season in Ligue 1 would be his “last season” as a professional footballer. Approaching 37 years of age, he will have the mission to help maintain Évian in Ligue 1. “I will prove my ability and merge into the squad, Leroy added. This is a bit like a return to basics, and this should allow me to close the loop”.
