Rennes - Belgrade : A German referee

After a Portuguese official for the first leg, Stade Rennes will be refereed by a German for the home game against Red Star Belgrade, next Thursday.

Deniz Aytekin, 33 years old, is a very young international referee since he has only reached that level earlier this year. Since then, he has monitored two European games this summer, one in the Europa League and one in the Champions League.
Of Turkish descent, he has been officiating in Bundesliga since 2008. An entrepreneur in the civil life, his statistics show a rather clement refereeing style: in 166 games since he started his career at professional level, he has been given an average of only three yellow cards per game, and one red card every twelve games.
