Reserve: relapse against Cherbourg (0-2)

After a run of three matches without defeat (2 wins, 1 draw), the Stade Rennes reserve has fallen again, this Wednesday in a re-scheduled game against Cherbourg (0-2).

Against a direct opponent in the relegation struggle, Jean-Marie de Zerbi (who replaced Laurent Huard, in Clairefontaine to prepare his coaching badges) could only rely on the usual players of the reserve squad, while professionals such as John Verhoek, Tongo Doumbia, John Boye or Abdoul Camara, all present in Carquefou on Saturday, were this time naturally absent.

After a first half without goals and only marked by the injury of Bira Dembélé, Cherbourg finally made the difference in the second half. At the 58th minute, the Normand centre back Kévin Franqueville opened the score.
The advantage was soon doubled, with a goal scored by young midfielder Maguette Diongue (68’).

While a victory would have been a real breather in the relegation race, Rennes has conceded yet another defeat, the tenth this season. This Sunday, they will have a chance to look up again with a difficult home game against Les Herbiers (third in the standing) since, this time, the professionals not used by Frédéric Antonetti in Lyon the previous day should be available to play.

The Rennes team : Diallo - Foulquier, Dembélé (Balisier), Kandji, Basse - Issah, Caro, Rouger - Julienne (Isambart), Sissoko (Makila), Boukaka.
