Transfers : a promising Malian youngster joins the club

While making the arrival of Yacine Qasmi official, Stade Rennes also announced the recruitment of Cheick Fantamady Diarra, presented as a “great prospect” of Malian football in the club’s press release.

Diarra, 19 years old, was playing for the Stade Malien, in Bamako, one of the biggest clubs in Mali. An attacking midfielder, he is an important player for the Malian Junior national team, which will play in the U20 World Cup finals in August.

He should join the Reserve team first, as two other African players of the same generation did last season, Ghanaian Kamal Issah and Senegalese Pape Malick Kandji.
