Dalmat returns, not Lemoine

Although several Rennes players and staff suffered with food poisoning at the end of last week (which forced Frédéric Antonetti to cancel a training session on Sunday), there is only one change in the squad called for the return leg against the Georgians of Metallurgist Rustavi.

Left in Brittany last week, Stéphane Dalmat returns to the squad, after several convincing performance in friendlies with the Reserve. The most senior member in the professional group will replace Tongo Doumbia. No reason has been brought for Doumbia’s absence.

Left out with Dalmat last week, Fabien Lemoine will watch the game from the stands this Thursday. Once again, the man from Fougeres is put on the side lines by his manager, who assures he made a “sportive choice” on his situation, without précising whether the issue is bad fitness, tactical decision, or if the midfielder is penalised by the two-matches ban he received last season, which will keep him out of the League’s first two game weeks.
The rest of the squad remains unchanged, since Frédéric Antonetti doesn’t want to rotate his team too much despite the Ligue 1 game to be played this Sunday.

On their side, Metallurgist Rustavi will come to Rennes without their defender Giorgi Murvelashvili, sent off during the first leg and therefore suspended. After taking a flight to Paris, the Georgian team took a train to Brittany this afternoon, before a training session at the Stade de la Route de Lorient in the evening.
