Discipline : An unfair procedure according to Antonetti

Discipline : An unfair procedure according to Antonetti

After the four match ban inflicted to Tongo Hamed Doumbia by the LFP’s Discipline commission (read previously), Frédéric Antonetti reacted angrily. Considering the sanction “very harsh” for an “involuntary foul”, the Rennes manager regrets the importance taken by his midfielder’s gesture, because of the game’s live broadcast, at 9 p.m. on a Sunday evening.

"I reckon, that if the game had not been broadcasted on Canal +, at 9 pm on a Sunday, he would not even have been punished. What disturbs me in that situation, is that everyone is not on an equal footing. The viewing commission should be observing every game in the same way, as I often see unacceptable challenges in some games, which don’t trigger any sanction.”

Antonetti adds, that the viewing commission should contribute to fairer sanctions, Ouest-France reported on Thursday: “if the viewing commission is set to punish retrospectively, it should also be used to clear players unfairly sanctioned in the first place.”
