Transfers : Dréossi confirms Douchez' departure

After L’Équipe announced on their website, Monday morning, the departure of Nicolas Douchez to Paris at the end of the season, the Stade Rennais goalkeeper has, in the first place, denied that he has made the decision to join the Paris club.

«I can’t confirm what the website of L’Équipe has announced. I’ve been discussing since weeks with the Paris SG and also with other clubs. I haven’t signed anything for the moment”, Nicolas Douchez affirmed, contacted by France Bleu Armorique on Monday.

His words were contradicted by Pierre Dréossi, speaking to RMC this afternoon. “He called me last night to tell me he wouldn’t extend his contract at the Stade Rennais”, the general manager of the Breton club explained. “Paris is the club he loves. I set Sunday evening as the deadline. He took that decision, it seems that it was difficult for him. Now we must respect his choice”.

Rennes hasn’t been waiting for Nicolas Douchez to look out for a new goalkeeper however. David Ospina – recruited in Nice by Frédéric Antonetti – and Stéphane Ruffier (AS Monaco) are the most often mentioned names on the Vilaine banks these days.
