Antonetti : « If Asamoah had left 10 days earlier, Loïc Rémy would have signed for us»

Invited to speak on RTL radio, Frédéric Antonetti revealed last night that Loïc Rémy could have signed for Rennes this year. Unfortunately some circumstances did not make it possible.
«We have not been lucky», said Rennes’ coach. «If Asamoah had left 10 days earlier, Loïc Rémy would have signed for us. It was really the player, the profile we needed. Luck is part of a successful transfer market, unfortunately it was not for this time. We are going to try to stay like that until January and have a successful transfer window in January».

Asked about his player Yann M’Vila, Antonetti also told how he discovered the skills of his young star, during the 2009 summer pre-season period. «At one stage, we had a friendly game against Brest. He played one half of the game because of the turn-over. It was my first games with the team, I wanted to see all the players, and I see this midfielder. I knew straight away, I said to Pierre Dréossi: «This guy, he might be able to do the job, maybe we should give him some time, but… ». Just after one half of a game, I knew, I had seen a young player who had the skills to play for the first team. After some circumstances made it happen earlier than expected».
During the second Ligue 1 game away against Nice, Inamoto is sent off, allowing M’Vila to make his debuts. One week later, he started his first game against Marseille. «He had an exceptional game against Marseille. Since then, he never left the team».
