Held to a draw against Lille (1-1), the Stade Rennais showed a very conquering attitude, at the Stade de la Route de Lorient, as they faced one of this season’s main title contenders. After Danzé and Souprayen, the Stade Rennais has officially announced Yacine Brahimi’s three year contract extension. Tied to the club until June 2011, the attacking midfielder has extended by three more years, and is now contracted to the club until June 2014.
In their first Ligue 1 game of the season, Rennes and Lille ended up on a draw (1-1). Rennes had the edge for most of the encounter, but the “Rouge et Noir” lacked composure in front of the goal to get past their opponents. An encouraging draw however, as Frédéric Antonetti’s men showed real abilities, to be confirmed in the near future.
This Saturday (21:00), the Stade Rennais will face Lille in the 2010-2011 Ligue 1 first game week. A difficult opening for the “Rouge et Noir”, opposed to a direct competitor for Europe. The mission won’t be easy against one of the title contenders, but this game could also be an occasion for Frédéric Antonetti’s men to sublime after a rather tasteless pre-season.
