Back in Rennes eight years after leaving, Julien Féret is the next name in a list of players who decided to return to Stade Rennes. They were former heroes on their way back, prodigal children seeking redemption or simply players desiring to return to their beloved club: a look back at those players whose departures and returns have written the club’s history.
Julien Féret, a 28 years old attacking midfielder, signed a three years contract at Stade Rennais. The second Rennes recruit comes back without any feel for revenge in his training club, and thinks about the French national team.
Former Caen player Benoît Costil will take over Nicolas Douchez’ role next season. The goalkeeper signed a three year contract with the Stade Rennais this Tuesday. The best player at his position during the last Ligue 2 season, his arrival is part of a massive mix-up in the goalkeepers’ hierarchy.
Trained in the Stade Rennais Academy between 2000 and 2003 but not kept in by the Breton club at the time, Julien Féret has gone a long way since his first time in Rennes. The midfielder from the Cotes d’Armor is now close to the French national team and about to return to the Breton capital, eight years later. A look back at an atypical player journey.
Julien Féret has officially become the first recruit of the Stade Rennais of 2011-2012. The man from the Cotes d’Armor will sign his contract and return to Brittany after undergoing the medical. The transfer fee is estimated to be slightly below the four million euros bar.
Transfers. Invited on RMC this Tuesday afternoon, Pierre Dréossi gave a few elements of information regarding Rennes’s summer transfers, expressing optimism regarding the arrival of Julien Féret and the possible extension of Kader Mangane’s contract.
Equally disconcerting and talented, Jérôme Leroy has left a mark at Stade Rennes in four years during which he delighted the crowds at the Route de Lorient. A player different to the others in his attitude, his skills and his ability to make the whole of his team shine. A virtuoso, who leaves with a legitimate feeling of bitterness towards his former management.
International. At the end of their club season, four Stade Rennes players were force to delay their holidays to join their national team. While Yann M’Vila goes on an Eastern European tour with France, Montaño is waiting to know if he is included in the Colombian squad for the Copa América.
Jérôme Leroy played his final game with the Stade Rennais in Lille. After four seasons, and over a hundred and fifty games with the “Rouge et Noir”, the attacking midfielder hasn’t offered a new contract offer from the club, and will therefore leave Brittany on a free transfer, probably for a final season in professional football.
Ligue 1, Lille 3 - 2 Stade rennais. Beaten by Lille and a hat-trick by Moussa Sow despite scoring first, Rennes finally end up the season in sixth place, overtaken by Sochaux, who went to win in Arles-Avignon. A disappointing result to close a lacklustre season, and which will force Antonetti and his players to start their 2011-2012 season as early as the end of July.
